On May 30 at 3:22pm EST, NASA will launch American astronauts from American soil into space for the first time in nearly a decade as a part of the SpaceX Commercial Crew program from the Kennedy Space Center. They will place a Crew Dragon spacecraft into orbit with NASA astronauts onboard. The spacecraft will dock with the International Space Station less than 24 hours later for an extended stay. After 63 days in space, approximately 1,024 orbits around our planet and four spacewalks, our pre-camp mission Astronauts are on their way home!

Just like in Scouting, NASA has a long tradition of patches to commemorate each mission into space. Astronauts have been wearing official mission patches since 1965. There are more than 150 NASA patches! Nearly all patches list the crew and display stars and stripes. Many show the space shuttle and the International Space Station. Learn more about Wednesday's mission's patch and so much more in the Commercial Crew Press Kit!
